Hurricanes beat Islanders, advance to second round of Stanley Cup Playoffs — Powered by two goals in eight seconds, the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Islanders 6-3 on Tuesday and won their first-round series of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, 4-1. The Canes will take on the New York Rangers in the second round.
