Cloudy skies and fog along with drizzle and mist and perhaps some spotty light rain. Lows in the mid-upper 30s. We have seen our classic cold air damming scenario set up across Central North Carolina and signs are this 'wedge' of cold air will remain in place through tomorrow. Temperatures will remain raw this evening with upper 30s expected by 8PM and then really no movement on the thermometer through daybreak. Winds will be light.

    Light Rain
    47°/ 46°

Cloudy skies and fog with some drizzle and mist throughout the day along with some spotty light rain. Highs in the mid 40s to 50. Our 'wedge' of cold air should remain entrenched across much of Central North Carolina through the day but temperatures should be milder than what we had on Monday. Tonight and tomorrow, temperatures should rise in response to the passage of a warm front. Winds today should be light.

Cloudy skies and very foggy with rain becoming more likely. Lows in the mid 40s-50 then rising toward daybreak. We do have a warm front which passes from south to north through the state tonight. With the approach of the warm front, our fog will likely thicken and visibilities could be greatly reduced. Temperatures will rise with the approach of the warm front and really take off tomorrow once the front is to our north. Winds from the southeast at 5-10 mph.

  • Wed

    Thunderstorm
    69°/ 50°

Cloudy, windy and very warm with showers and storms likely. Some of the storms could have gusty winds. Highs in the upper 60s-lower 70s. We do have a cold front on the way which is not likely to pass until after midnight tonight so it is likely our weather will remain unsettled all day and into the night. As of this time, the risk for severe weather should be confined to the coast, but we are monitoring this situation closely for any changes. Our atmosphere has been so stable the past few days with our cold air wedge that the incoming energy may be have a hard time creating enough instability to support severe weather. Again, we will monitor for any changes as we get closer to today. Winds from the south at 15-25 mph.

Cloudy skies with showers possible this evening and until about midnight or so. Lows in the lower-mid 50s. Our cold front swings through the area after midnight and once it does move through, some drier air will follow helping to scour out the cloud cover. It appears this may be a slow go, so Santa will likely need the help of Rudolph as we will not be seeing clear skies for his arrival. Winds tonight from the southwest at 10-20 mph.
