Tonight’s Forecast
Mostly cloudy skies this evening with a chance of some light rain and drizzle then partly cloudy after midnight and becoming windy. Lows in the mid-upper 20s. There is just the chance of some light rain and drizzle this evening then drying will commence overnight. Most if not all of the roads will be dry by the time we start the day, so the threat of black ice looks slim. The bigger feature will be the wind that will begin overnight and greet us in the morning. A High Wind Warning begins at 6am and lasts through tomorrow evening. Winds tonight becoming westerly at 20-30mph by daybreak.
Wednesday, February 10
Mostly cloudy, very windy and cold with the chance of some flurries this afternoon. Highs in the mid-upper 30s. The High Wind Warning remains in effect until 9pm this evening. Sustained winds of 30-40 mph are likely with gusts from 45-55 mph. With the saturated soils from recent rains, it is quite likely that we will have trees come down on a widespread basis. Some of these trees will hit power lines resulting in power outages. High profile vehicles may have a tough time navigating throughout the state due to the powerful winds. Even lower profile vehicles may have a tough time as well so make sure you hold onto the steering wheels tightly. It would be a good idea to secure any loose articles in your yard that could blow away such as trash cans, lawn chairs and toys. This will be some of the most ferocious winds outside of a tropical storm and thunderstorm that we have seen in quite some time. Wind chills through the day will likely remain around 20 degrees or below, so the wind will really have a bite to it! Sunrise: 7:07 a.m., Sunset: 5:51 p.m. Wind: W at 30-40 m.p.h.
