West Rowan beats Eastern Alamance, 34-7, grabs 3-A state title

Dinkin Miller rushed for 211 yards and a touchdown to help West Rowan beat Eastern Alamance 34-7 on Saturday for the Class 3-A North Carolina High School Athletic Association championship.

B.J. Sherrill ran for one touchdown and passed for another score for the Falcons (16-0), who knocked off Eastern Alamance in the state final for the second year in a row. West Rowan won its third consecutive state title and extended its winning streak to 46 games.

Javonte Ellison rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles (13-3), who trailed 14-7 at halftime.

The Falcons played the second half without Sherrill, who suffered a concussion in the second quarter shortly after throwing a 68-yard touchdown pass to Jarvis Morgan.

Miller, the game's MVP, broke two tackles during a 54-yard touchdown run on West Rowan's first offensive play of the second half.
