At Triton High School, success starts up front. Senior offensive tackle Logan Morgan's versatility has been key to the Hawks winning season.

"His work ethic has been tremendous, not just in terms of turning himself into a starter but a good player," Triton head coach Ben Penny said. "Our center went down which is a very important piece of our offense, and Logan volunteered to play for two games which we both won.  Making all the calls, playing a different position...being dedicated to get the job done allowed him to do that."

Logan isn't the biggest or strongest player, but he's intelligent and has focused on technique. He worked his way into becoming an indispensable piece of the Hawks offense.  He has a similar story throwing shot put and discus as well.

"He comes to practice everyday busts his tail, puts one hundred percent into it," Triton track coach Josh Canterbury said. "He's gone from being a guy that was out there practicing and getting better, to being a fill in guy, to starting and being one of the top three or four that throws in events."

Logan isn't one to seek out the spotlight, he'd rather serve others.

"When I see people hurting I always want to go up to them and ask are you good what's wrong," Logan said. "I think at a societal level it's very important for us to feel that way about each other."

As a student he's president of the Interact club, where he works on volunteer and fundraising efforts throughout the year. He plans to study aerospace engineering in college and dreams of joining the Air Force.

"I want to serve this country," Logan said. "I've always kind of been obsessed with the air and aerospace and planes."

Logan's accomplishments in athletics and academics earned him WRAL's Tom Suiter Extra Effort award.

"It's very humbling, I'm very honored," Logan said. "If you would have told me five to six months ago I would have gotten this award and I would have a starting spot, I would have told you you're crazy."
