NCFC, Club de Fútbol Monterrey announce partnership
North Carolina FC and Club de Fútbol Monterrey announced a partnership Friday in which the two clubs will share resources and collaborate on player development at the academy and pro levels.
OK. Well, thank you all for uh for being here. Uh It's a momentous day for us. Uh And we appreciate your support uh for us, this, this is historic uh as uh Jake was saying, uh it's the first of its kind relationship for our club, but it's, it's been a long time coming. We've put a lot of effort, energy. Uh Our community has into player development and uh we're thrilled that uh a prestigious club uh like Monterey and the rears are uh recognizing what we do and supportive of that. Uh We couldn't be happier to have any of the partnership. So, thank you very much. Um You know, this is also a part for us of our global strategy. I'd like to thank Pete Chandra. He's our executive vice president for a lot of time into working with uh our partners to uh get this right. Uh What we're looking for is a long term relationship where not only do we work on player development, but we have international friendlies and we work on the developing areas of our sport. Uh Last night, we had a rousing discussion on uh data and A I and they were educating me on that, which I was, uh the other way around. But, uh, you know, there's, there's a huge, uh Hispanic community here in our area and particularly Mexican. And, uh, we are thrilled to be bringing the best team in Liga MX, uh, into closer ties with, with our region. Um, as Jake said, currently ranked number one in Concacaf, best team in North America and it's not just here. They have a storied history of uh many trophies, championships and, and great player development. We couldn't be more thrilled. Uh We, we look to build on that throughout our entire organization, academies of every age. And uh and, and we have, you will see an ongoing commitment to uh the Mexican community in this area and, and we had the best partner for doing that. So, thank you. Thank you. OK. Uh Hello, everyone. Thanks for coming and thanks for having us here. You guys have a very nice love. Congratulations on that, John. Good luck tomorrow. Thank you. And I, I wrote something about what we are doing together because I was not allowed to switch to Spanish. So I better wrote down something and I'm gonna read it for you at, at Roo de Monterey. We are proud of our values and our history which uh obviously today is expanding its path through the USA and that put up all of us at Ral is very proud of. First of all, I have to say that we want to develop the best human beings possible at Real De Monterey. But after that, since we are competing, we want to win as much as possible. And therefore, we need to make sure that we have the best partners possible. And we find uh North Carolina IFC as the best partner possible in the area. We are developing players, both girls and boys, men and women to compete at the highest level. And we are sure this agreement will help us going that way, expand our brand globally. Uh And starting from the USA is another very important path we want to go through and you guys are gonna help us with that as well and reaching the American and Spanish community. Uh Mexicans, of course, here in the US USA is important also. So thank you all who put a lot of time and effort into making this commitment a reality. I have no doubt that this is going to make us both North Carolina IFC and R de Monterey better clubs uh for the good of our fans. So thank you. Thanks for having us. Good luck with everything and we'll see each other pretty soon here or there. OK. Thank you. Yeah, thank you all for coming today. Uh And thank you to the leadership from both, both clubs for, for all the hard work that's going into this. This has been a long time coming. Uh many good discussions about player development and opportunities for both clubs to, to, to use this partnership for the best abilities that we can. Um, in my role as the head coach of the, of the professional team and as the academy director for NCFC Youth, uh, it's extremely exciting to, to partner with, with Monterey, uh specifically in the area of player development. You know, we've already had a player from our professional team that's gone on trial down with Monterey. Uh And we've already had Monterey scouting, our, our academy teams to be able to identify players for future trials. Um So there's, there's tangible evidence of how this partnership will work already. Uh And we're excited that, you know, how it's gonna grow with future opportunities for players on both sides. Um And in both environments, whether it's the profe professional environment or the youth environment as well. Um International friendly is an exciting thing for us to, to explore with Monterey, either coming here or us going there and giving the experience to our players within the professional environment to play against uh such a storied and, and quality program there. Um So, you know, from a coaching education standpoint, there's multiple things that we can learn and, and share resources between our staffs and their staff uh with club visits and, and opportunities to, to learn from obviously a massively storied club. Um That's, that's had proven experience in player development. Um So we couldn't be happier about the, the relationship where things are going. So thank you again for coming today, Gracias. Uh Bien Benino Todos, let me talk a little bit in English and Spanish. My English is not great, but let me try to do it. Yeah. Uh I'm going to talk about uh the current situation of our academy. So we have la poo cerca de la sit actual de Academia del Vallado. And then I am going to talk about the connection between with North Carolina. The Cuarenta PCIO de Metro Judo del Primera Canter. The 40% off of our first team squad were developed in our academy, Torneo apertura Aloes and prime this apertura season. The club has devote six academy players in the first team. Die Adores and Equipo the selection and national men. No, the, the Mexico 10 active player from our academy in the youth national team from Mexico though who adores and Apa we have two players in Europe from the Vasa forces. Uh Cesar Montes vs An Toe Tenemos Campionato and Forza Vasan, El Mimo Torneo, uh three National League MX Academy Championship in the same season is the Samuel Unique Aqui and Alpo Di. That's amazing. Three out of four by the, we have two youth uh competitions and we won three of them. Yeah, Pulito circa de la REAC. And now I am going to talk about the relationship between the North Carolina FCC and our academy. Uh like the IE po potential system, the selection the talent. We are going to work together for good focus in the scouting. Yeah. And inter Cambio de Jure, we are going to work to interchange layer from here to there, there to here. And Minuto de Huevo Internationale mejor de Porta, we are going to have a lot of minute, uh national and international minute for our player and for your player too. Um Trans de Cono and Laria de Porta. Uh we are going to work about the, the education coaching education. Yeah, and that's all. And we content to the Tara. We are very happy to be here and the me and my Spanglish is great. That's good, Jack. Yeah. Yes. Thanks Jake for the, for the introduction. Uh Hello, everyone. We're really excited and looking forward to, to starting this partnership with North Carolina. Uh First of all, I wanna thank all the staff and members from, from North Carolina c since day one, we initiated conversations uh for this partnership. Everyone was very welcoming and very excited on collaborating with, with Royal. So uh we wanna thank because he just created great chemistry between uh both clubs. So we're just really excited to, to start working together. Um Adding to, to Nicholas's statement uh through this partnership with North Carolina NFC, a club highly recognized for their success in, in player development. Um We can maximize our young uh top talent recruitment efforts. Uh having the opportunity to collaborate in pro pathways for both players in our academy and players in, in North Carolina FC Academy, uh collaboration in coaching, education, international competition and national scouting will help further both clubs success in, in projecting players to professional uh soccer. So lastly, I just wanna thank everyone uh here and again, North Carolina FC for, for making this possible and best of success uh Tomorrow with the semifinal. Thank you. OK. If you have some questions that were submitted as a follow up, so I'll read those off and I'll direct them to the appropriate party. Uh First we heard about all the success of their academy and the top team as well. But beyond that, what made reo is a good fit for this? So, uh for us, it's, uh you know, it's nice that they win. It's uh it's nice that they have a big commitment like us to the academy and winning there too. Uh But it's really about the people and uh from the moment we started working with them, uh Tato and his team are of the highest quality. Uh They have shared values with us. Um They have a sporting vision that aligns and uh you know, a lot of uh clubs in software have a lot of turnover and uh this organization has uh people that have been there a long time just like us that uh that's how you make success. Uh And we've been very pleased uh working with all of their staff to, to make it happen. So that for us, that's why it's a good fit. You know, we all wanna win, but it's the commitments that you have and how you execute on those. So we're very happy to be working with them. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We talked about North Carolina FC growing their global expansion. But for res, it's been important to grow a footprint in the United States as well. How does this partnership kind of further that along that plan of growing into the United States? A lot, a lot, as I've mentioned before, uh growing our path out of the Mexican territory, it's uh important for us and of course, the United States is a big part of it. And having uh this club as a partnership as a partner is very good for us because as Steve just said, we share values, we share competitiveness. Uh We share a lot of things. I uh I like what I see. I like what I hear from you guys. Uh All of you have been amazing people, you guys are doing a great job uh uh all around because you have a very men's team, you have a very good girls team. So it's a good fit for us. Uh So we are very happy and proud about it. Awesome John, uh we've seen NCFC have some major success in finding players that are strong fits for teams overseas. How does the collaboration with a club like Reo's help in honing those skills and deal even further that. Well, I think it starts there with the scouting perspective of, of working together to identify youth talents and then having both environments being able to affect the, the players as they go through their player development pathways. Um So, like I said before, we've already had a player that's gone on trial uh down in, in Monterey's Academy. Uh and then, you know, great reports back in terms of how we did and uh future players don't have opportunities to go down as well. But I think from a scouting perspective, it allows us to find, you know, top talent, Mexican American players at, at young ages uh and make North count FC a Monterey a destination for those players to be able to affect their player development as they go forward. And then, uh this question can be both for C and to. So we have local business leaders here. We have local community members that are very much interested in growing the Hispanic population in New York Carolina in the triangle. How does this relationship a create an opportunity in the community? But then the revenue generating business opportunity. So, yes, sure. Um Look, uh we have a long history of bringing first division uh Mexican clubs uh into the area, particularly as exhibitions. But when you have a longer term relationship, uh you know, uh and with all of the international stresses that we've all undergone, uh, you know, rebuilding those ties sort of on the backside of the pandemic here. Uh We've been planning this and, uh, I think, uh that will build fandom and, uh, and the revenues will follow. Uh, you know, uh, of course, we'd appreciate your support in any way. I think one of the things that's important about this area is we, you know, get best places to live accolades all the time. but it, it's quality of life and uh if, if you come from a place where football is uh your passion, uh I feel a little bit like we've uh you know, been able to bring that right into your backyard and with a first class organization. So, uh you know, we wanna contribute, uh the more we give, we expect that that will result in things coming back to us. I'm glad to hear football that, that, that was amazing for me. That's my ST it, it's more kind of a pretty American thing, but, ok, uh I'm talking about the commercial side of it. I think it's always important to take care of our partners, uh commercially speaking. So I think we are all gonna learn from what we are just starting, but I'm sure every single activity that we are gonna have together, it's gonna give the brands or our partners an opportunity to fit to jump in whatever situation they, they, they see appropriate for the situation. It could be a a friendly game. It could be knowing our brands and us knowing your brand. So yeah, iii I hope you, I hope you guys are, are understanding what I'm trying to say about the commercial side of it. It's gonna be something important as well. Uh Because we have been talking about uh soccer, football, uh the sports side of it. Uh but the commercial side is always important as well. We have a question that's submitted and I think John and Adrian might be the best ones to answer this. It's a question about how this multicultural opportunity and they talk about sport being so important in teaching kids values, keeping them away from dangerous things, drugs, guns, crime, et cetera. How do you see a multicultural collaboration like this at the youth level impacting the community and Adrian if you don't mind? Sorry. Yeah, sure. Um I think it's, it's something we really focus on on the academy but also in our youth uh system, we have 100 and 60 soccer schools in, in Mexico and in the US. And we really look to develop players like like Tato said on the human side first, then you know, focus on, on the sports side. Uh But yes, I mean, uh when every time we come to the US to compete, direct change in the cultural side, not only on the field but outside of the field, uh it generates a lot of value to, to the players especially when they're really young. So uh that's definitely something we, we are focused on. Yeah, I would just say, I think it starts, you know, as it's been mentioned before, with, with both clubs having aligned values to begin with, you know, and how we identify players and how we uh the staffs, you know, conduct themselves and that kind of thing. And so I think as we are identifying players going forward, you know, through multicultural uh opportunities and, and bringing people into our environment or into Monterey's environment. It's gonna be somewhat seamless because of the shared values that we Jason Jennings wra I don't have any questions for me. Good. Awesome. Anybody have to watch one for a while. Yes. Uh Thank you. I'm uh interested to know about the, the exchange of players. Um Could you give a little bit more details for you've already scattered? Either part, some players you would like to exchange, we had him running in the gym. They're class. Yeah. No, I think, yeah, I'll just jump in, I think from, from the idea of what we're talking about, there's, there's multiple things that are on the table, you know, whether it's a, a player from honor a s academy that might not be ready for the first team, but it would be competitive and to develop in our, our professional environment here. Uh or whether it's a young player that we collectively identified maybe outside of our market that comes to North Carolina F C's Youth Academy uh and develops there with opportunities to visit and train at Monterey with the idea that there's a professional outcome for a player when they turn 18 or, or later in their stages. So, you know, those are just two specific ones but you know, through, through conversations, we're having it, its multiple opportunities for different players at different, I can give you one more example. We have been talking about the possibility of some courage players uh coming to Monterey for preseason since you guys are out of competition right now. Those couple of players uh who are hanging around are, would like to be training, uh would probably join us for a couple of uh weeks or so. So that's another example of what we can do together. Thank you all. I have a question that you have. Uh I love coming to the stadium to party. One thing I think when play, here's going, I grew up Russia base to be able to connect with players like that. Uh You a whole, she keep in mind that dollars and I to see, uh again, the con or 12, this is the K of pork, the space iii I agree and thank thank you for bringing in that part of the conversation because fans, I'm sure it's uh a very important part of what we are doing. Actually, we wouldn't be here if we wouldn't have. Fans, sports are, are about fans. So yeah, one important uh part of our values is giving the fans back uh for what they gave to us and one part of giving them back something is that uh proximity or that conversation between them and our players? Definitely. And, and I'm sure you guys share those values, right? We do our, you know, our players are very, uh we don't have to put a lot of effort into asking them to go out. They're very willing to do that. They wanna connect culturally. Uh They also all have uh charitable concerns that, you know, we, we want to be able to bring that to a part of who we are as a club. And we do that as, as you see in our game themes, et cetera. But uh it, it is a lot more meaningful when we have a, a group of players that are uh connected to their community. So we want that too. Awesome. My thank you. No. Mhm Yeah. And maybe you can jump in. Uh So it's uh since it's a really integrated partnership where we just don't focus on the one strategy. Uh I mean, we've been already working in, in, in some uh strategies regarding player uh development for maybe a couple of months now. Uh But I mean, what we were just discussing, uh we're probably gonna be here again soon regarding some uh youth strategies. We have uh that we were just discussing uh there's a game, uh, for the first team in, in March. Uh, I don't remember exactly the dates but for March 2024. So it's, it's just integrating and we're gonna be often working together. Uh, we're planning on having some, um, of, of North Carolina NFC staff join us in, in, in Monterey, probably beginning of, of next year, uh, doing some coaching education and also some, some scouting. But, um, I think it's, we're gonna be busy for the next, next six months, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. And in many ways it already has begun. Uh, this is, this is us telling everyone, uh, but, uh, we've been dating already for a while. Uh, I mean, for instance, our, our women's team went down for preseason last year. They were incredible hosts to us. Uh, we had a great game in there. They have a fabulous stadium facilities. Um, it was a great experience for, for the courage. Um, and that's just an example of how things have already, you know, uh, we, we know who they are and they know who we are. Um, but now a as we become more public with it, uh, things like fandom are gonna come in, uh, into the equation. So we're already off and running is the message and in love it's the honeymoon. I, I think the first official exchange will be a couple of jerseys that have been brought with us here today. So we appreciate everybody joining us here and now we'll ask that to see if you could have it for a photo opportunity. So we have the North Car FC Jersey and I'll take this. Ok. Look out of here.
