Bubba Cunningham will continue in the role of director of athletics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill through the 2026-7 academic year. Cunningham signed an updated contract in March that pay him a base salary of $814,868.
As AD, of course, Cunningham is eligible for bonuses based on the success of UNC's athletic teams and the academic success of student-athletes.
Cunningham took over the UNC athletic program in 2011 at a salary of $525,000 per year. Since that time, he has invited back Mack Brown as the head football coach and elevated Hubert Davis to coach the men's basketball team following the retirement of Roy Williams.
Before coming to UNC, Cunningham was AD at the University of Tulsa for six years.
