Charlotte, N.C. — North Carolina State University and the University of Tennessee are set to play in the 2024 Duke's Mayo Classic, the Charlotte Sports Foundation announced Tuesday.
The two schools will kick off their college football season on Sept. 7, 2024 at Bank of America Stadium.
“We are thrilled to host a dynamic regional match up that is within driving distance for these two passionate fan bases," said Charlotte Sports Foundation executive director Danny Morrison in a news release. "Tennessee and NC State have incredible ties to Charlotte and bringing them together to play in Bank of America Stadium is going to be an awesome experience."
The Wolfpack played against Maryland in the 2022 Duke's Mayo Bowl, and Tennessee faced West Virginia in Charlotte in 2018.
The 2024 game will mark the fourth time NC State and Tennessee have played. Here's a look at the previous history:

- Sept. 29, 1939: Tennessee won 13-0 in Raleigh
- Oct. 28, 1911: NC State won 16-0 in Raleigh
“We are excited to participate in the 2024 Duke’s Mayo Classic," said NC State Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan in the release. "This is an incredible opportunity for our football program to face a great SEC opponent in our home state."
Organizers of the Duke's Mayo Classic said they will announce the game's kickoff time and ticket information at a later date.
