Raleigh, N.C. — Junior guard Blake Harris has decided to leave the NC State basketball program, the school announced Thursday.
In a terse statement that was less than 20 words, the school's statement said, "Junior guard Blake Harris is no longer with the NC State men’s basketball program for personal reasons."
Team spokesman Craig Hammel announced the roster move Thursday, three days before the Wolfpack plays Mount Olive in an exhibition game.
The statement did not elaborate on what prompted the decision by Harris.
Harris, from Chapel Hill, committed to play at Washington but a coaching change led him to Missouri.
He started 9 games as a freshman for the Tigers but asked for and was given his release. He transferred after the first semester at Missouri.
NC State became his destination. In one complete season with the Wolfpack, Harris played in 30 games, averaging 9.5 minutes per contest and 3.1 points per game.
If he transfers to another Division I school, he will have to sit out the 2019-20 season and would have two years of eligibility.
Harris averaged 3.1 points and 1.5 assists while playing 30 games as a sophomore last season.
