Each summer, Raleigh parks line up a really fun concert series, which can make for perfect summer evenings with the family.

This summer, the concerts take place at Fred Fletcher Park, off Glenwood Avenue near downtown Raleigh, and Pullen Park. The concerts are free and food will be available for purchase at each park. But you also can pack your own picnic dinner and spread out on a blanket or in lawn chairs.

Here are the details about each of the series.

Fred Fletcher Park Concert Series

The park is at 820 Clay St. in Raleigh and features lots of big green open spaces for kids to just run, dance and have a blast. I've been to several of these concerts, and they always are a lot of fun. Concerts take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

July 1 – Triangle Taiko
July 15 – SWAG

July 29 – Devereux Meadow Grounds Crew

Pullen Park Concert Series

The park, one of the most popular in Raleigh, is at 408 Ashe Ave. Concerts take place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. It's worth noting that the park's train, carousel and kiddie boats are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., daily. So you and the kids can hop on the rides during the concerts. (Just remember: Pullen ride tickets increase on July 2 to $1.50.)
June 19 – Capital Transit
June 26 - McCullers Crossroad
June 27 – United States Army Field Band – Jazz Ambassadors. (This is the official touring band of the United States Army)
July 10 – GrassStreet

July 24 – Raleigh Jazz Orchestra
