Recalled eggs

US Food and Drug Administration inspectors found a rodent infestation, filth, unsanitary conditions and more at the Rose Acre Farms location in Hyde County, NC.

Last week, Rose Acre Farms recalled over 200 million eggs because of possible Salmonella contamination. Food Lion and Walmart eggs (Great Value) are included in this recall.

The new report from the FDA on Thursday, April 19, 2018 indicates that the "North Carolina farm linked to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella from contaminated eggs had an ongoing rodent infestation, unsanitary conditions and poor employee practices," according to an article from CNN.

The article also states that "throughout the inspection, several production employees were seen touching their faces, hair or intergluteal cleft (the groove between the buttocks) before touching eggs and food contact surfaces without changing their gloves or washing their hands."

Rose Acre Farms is preparing a response which is due next week and spokesman Gene Grabowski said, "Until then, we would urge everyone to wait until all the facts are presented before rushing to judgment. Thank you for your understanding and patience."
