Take the Kids - Watch: 'Pandas 3D' serves up adorable, important story
The movie is about more than just sweet shots of these amazing creatures. It's about the struggles that pandas face in their natural habitat where Chinese development has forced them up into the remote mountains.
Posted — UpdatedBoth of my kids - along with a few of their friends - lined up to go, eager to see video of adorable furry pandas, adorably rolling around outside or curled up in tiny balls with other little black-and-white guys.
"Pandas" doesn't disappoint in that department. Indeed, there are countless moments worthy of "aww" and "so cute," where you kind of just wanted to cuddle up with those chubby little creatures and their oh-so-soft fur.
Just take a look ...
But the movie is about more than just sweet shots of these amazing creatures. It's about the struggles that pandas face in their natural habitat where Chinese development has forced them up into the remote mountains.
And that's where the story of "Pandas 3D" gets serious. The movie is primarily about the scientists' efforts to protect the species and ensure they are around for generations to come.
It focuses on the work of two scientists - one from America, the other from China - as they prepare to introduce Qian Qian, a female cub, into the wild.
Taking tips from a New Hampshire-based program that has successfully returned black bear cubs to the wild, the scientists enjoy some successes with Qian Qian. She learns to climb trees and fill up on something like 50 pounds of bamboo a day.
By the end of the film, you're rooting for Qian Qian and the scientists who are caring for her. Sadly, not everything goes well for Qian Qian. Still, the movie leaves viewers with plenty of hope for her - and those who are working to protect her species.
"Pandas 3D", narrated by actress Kristen Bell, is an educational and fun family film that tells an important story that older kids will appreciate with video that just about everybody will eat up. The G-rated film runs about 45 minutes long. The film is on rotation at Marbles' IMAX theater.
