For the last few years, a group of moms in the Triangle have gotten together for an unusual kind of play date every once in a while.
They meet at the state legislature with their kids to talk with legislators and lobby for better family leave policies, for instance. Then they head over to Marbles for some play time.
MomsRising members in the Triangle will be writing about their work here on Go Ask Mom every month or so. You'll find them here on Tuesdays starting tomorrow when Beth Messersmith, a Durham mom of two, writes about a state legislative study commission looking at issues such as paid sick days and paid family leave.
While I know not all of you will agree with MomsRising, I hope that their posts spark some discussion on issues that touch a lot of families.
