Mother, son arrested in Spring Lake shooting death

One of two men sought in the shooting death of a Spring Lake man two months ago was arrested Tuesday, and police charged his mother as an accessory in the case.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — One of two men sought in the shooting death of a Spring Lake man two months ago was arrested Tuesday, and police charged his mother as an accessory in the case.

Devante Shamar "Flip" Watson, 18, of Spring Lake, was taken into custody in Fayetteville and was being held without bond in the Cumberland County jail, police said.

Watson and Glenn Warren, 31, of Fayetteville, are charged with first-degree murder in the Nov. 5 death of DeVante Saquan Tart, whose body was found behind a vacant apartment complex.

Watson's mother, Marisha Britton, 42, as well as Jameshia Walker, 19, were charged as accessories after the fact of murder in Tart's death. Britton was being held under a $210,000 bond, while Walker was being held under a $200,000 bond.

Spring Lake police were still searching for Warren and said he is considered armed and dangerous.
