RALEIGH, N.C. — Police say a man died in a motorcycle wreck that closed part of South Saunders Street near downtown Raleigh Thursday morning.

Authorities charged Quiana Tashean Alsabry, 24, of 3120 Cold Harbor Drive, with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in the death of Robert William Gillespy, 57, of Raleigh.

Alsabry was also cited for an unsafe movement violation.

According to a wreck report, Alsabry was trying to make a U-turn at Penmarch Drive when her van hit another car and then ran into the path of Gillespy's motorcycle.

He was taken to WakeMed, where he died.

In the course of the investigation, police asked for a search warrant for Alsabry's phone to determine whether she was on it at the time of the crash.
