Despite the snow and slick roads, some businesses are open and sporting events happening as scheduled. Area malls will close earlier than planned.

Despite the snow and slick roads, some businesses are open and sporting events happening as scheduled:
- The 2 p.m. Sunday performance of The Nutcracker at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium
- The 7:30 p.m. Sunday Capitals vs. Canes hockey game (The morning pre-game skate and event for season ticket-holders was canceled.)
- The GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational Tournament, set to start Monday, will go on as planned, tournament officials said. Wake County schools still must approve.
Some businesses opened Sunday but will close earlier than planned:
- Crabtree Valley Mall will close at 6 p.m. Sunday instead of 9 p.m.
- Triangle Towne Center in Raleigh and Cary Towne Center in Cary will close at 5 p.m. instead of 7 p.m. Department stores and restaurant closing times may vary.
- The Streets at Southpoint in Durham will close at 6 p.m.
- Target at North Hills and Crossroads opened at 7 a.m. It is unclear when they will close.
The weather also is affecting public transit. Accessible Raleigh Transportation Program (ART) Tier II Paratransit services are canceled today, due to weather related safety concerns.
Also, Capital Area Transit (CAT) buses are now serving only the major radial thoroughfares. Less traveled roadways will not be served. Buses are attempting to remain on schedule as the weather permits. Please call 485-RIDE for detailed information.
All Urgent Cares of America Clinics are closed due to hazardous weather conditions throughout North Carolina. All UCA Urgent Care clinics are scheduled to open at 8 a.m. Monday.
