JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A memorial service was held Sunday for a 12-year-old girl who was killed Thursday when her horse got spooked and ran into the path of a tractor-trailer.
Jessica Ferrara, who was a straight A student at Riverwood Middle School, would have turned 13 on Sunday.
During the memorial service, Ferrara was remembered for her passion for horses.
She was an active member of her local 4-H club, which raised funds to help pay for Ferrara's memorial service.
The 4-H club has also established the Jessica Ferrara Memorial Fund to honor her and her love for horses. If you would like to contribute, please send donations to:
