FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Public Works Commission broke ground Wednesday for a new, environmentally-friendly customer service center on Old Wilmington Road.

The building complies with LEED nation standards for high-performance green buildings. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design. LEED promotes design and construction practices that reduce the impact of buildings on their environment.

Fayetteville's new service center will serve 25,000 customers per month.
