Man charged in Fayetteville slaying

Police on Thursday charged a Fayetteville man in a March 17 shooting death.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Police on Thursday charged a Fayetteville man in a March 17 shooting death.

Omar Ramone Vereen, 19, of the 3200 block of Chandler Street, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Raheem Altrick Williams. Vereen was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

Williams, 29, was found on Boxwood Lane with several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where he died.

No other details of the case have been released.
