Funeral held for Benson teen who died in wreck
Steven "Drew" Smith, 17, and Dennis Dewitt, also 17, were on their way to a turkey shoot Friday night when Dewitt's truck drove off Zacks Mill Road, near N.C. Highway 50. Smith died at the scene.

BENSON, N.C. — Funeral services were held Monday for a Johnston County teenager killed in a car wreck over the weekend.
Steven "Drew" Smith, 17, and Dennis Dewitt, also 17, were on their way to a turkey shoot Friday night when Dewitt's truck drove off Zacks Mill Road, near N.C. Highway 50.
Smith died at the scene. Emergency medical crews took Dewitt to WakeMed, where he was treated and released.
Dewitt was charged Sunday with misdemeanor death by vehicle and exceeding a safe speed, the state Highway Patrol said.
