Driver hits service pole on Blue Ridge Road

Blue Ridge Road reopened around 5:30 a.m., but one lane in each direction remained blocked from Trinity Road to Hillsborough Street. There is no word on when those lanes will reopen.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Part of Blue Ridge Road was shut down early Thursday after a driver hit an AT&T service pole, Raleigh Police said.

Blue Ridge Road reopened around 5:30 a.m., but one lane in each direction remained blocked from Trinity Road to Hillsborough Street. There is no word on when those lanes will reopen.

Police said the driver was arrested for hit and run.

The service pole was knocked down in the wreck. Police said electricity in the area was not affected.
