ZEBULON, N.C. — A man who has been convicted for driving while impaired at least three times was arrested on the same charges Saturday morning, according to warrants.

Wilbert Lee Thomas, 43, of 412 E. Morris Ave. in Benson, was pulled over on West Gannon Avenue in Zebulon, the warrants say. He was charged with being a habitual drunk driver.

Thomas was placed in the Wake County Jail under a $30,000 bond, and his first court appearance was set for Monday.

State Department of Correction records show that Thomas has DWI convictions from 1997, 2004 and 2006 in Johnston County. The arrest warrant also lists a 2001 DWI conviction in Guilford County, but DOC records don't show that one.

Thomas also has four convictions for selling drugs in Johnston County, as well as ones for assault on a female and simple assault, DOC records show.
