American Dance Festival releases 2012 schedule

The schedule, announced last week, includes 16 companies and choreographers taking the stage from June 14 - July 28. Performances will take place at the Durham Performing Arts Center, Reynolds Industries Theater at Duke University and the North Carolina Museum of Art.

The American Dance Festival is gearing up for its 2012 season. 

The schedule, announced last week, includes 16 companies and choreographers taking the stage from June 14 -  July 28. Performances will take place at the Durham Performing Arts Center, Reynolds Industries Theater at Duke University and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
Tickets go on sale May 14 on the ADF website.

This is the inaugural season for ADF Director Jodee Nimerichter, who took over after longtime director Charles L. Reinhart retired last year.

All events begin at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

New this summer: 

On June 30 at 2 p.m. following the children's matinee of Hubbard Street Dance at the DPAC, ADF will hold its first Durham Dances Day.

The free afternoon will feature music, dancing, a parade with the Paperhand Puppet Intervention, arts and crafts with Scrap Exchange, activities with Angelina Ballerina and more. Parents are also invited to bring their children for a meet-and-greet with the Hubbard Street dancers.

The community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the music of The Gravy Boys on the ATC stage.

Also, the ADF Musicians Concert will be held for the first time as part of the American Tobacco Music on the Lawn series on Friday, July 13 at 6 p.m.
