DURHAM, N.C. — Carolina Theatre's FantasticRealm Film Series is this weekend, and it's perfect for the parents of a certain age out there who want to regale their kids with the movies of their childhood.

The series, which starts today, Friday, Feb. 22, will feature the likes of

  • Ghostbusters,
  • Sesame Street's Follow That Bird,
  • Pee-Wee's Big Adventure,
  • Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom,
  • Popeye,
  • Spaceballs,
  • The Goonies
  • The Neverending Story

There also are some 90s flicks in the mix, including Fight Club and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

As with any 80s movie, I always recommend checking out the parents' guides on Common Sense Media because, let's just say that the movies of the 80s don't necessarily meet the same standards as today's flicks.

Regardless, this looks like a fantastic walk down memory lane which your kids won't mind traveling with you for a couple of hours this weekend.

Tickets are $9.50. The series starts at 1 p.m., Friday, with Ghostbusters, and continues through Sunday. More information, the full schedule and tickets are on Carolina Theatre's website.
