Quail Ridge Books & Music in Raleigh has busy fall coming up with a variety of authors bringing in their new books for kids from preschool to teens.

Here's what's scheduled with descriptions from the staff at Quail Ridge. Click here for details about these and other events coming up at Quail Ridge for kids and teens.
  • 4 p.m., Sept. 22. Author Annette Simon brings "Robot Zombie Frankenstein!" Two robots pile on the costumes in this hilarious story of a techno rivalry. Laugh out loud picture book fun for ages 4 to 8.
  • 4:30 p.m., Oct. 11, Author-illustrator Tad Hills, of Duck and Goose fame, returns with "Rocket Writes a Story." Everyone's favorite bushy-headed dog is back, and so is the little yellow bird. For ages 4 and up.
  • 6:30 p.m., Oct. 16, Betty Birney, the author of the beloved Humphrey books visits with her new Mysteries According to Humphrey. We love this wise classroom hamster, Quail Ridge writes. Ages 8 and up.
  • 4:30 p.m., Oct. 18, Bill Evans, Emmy Award winning meteorologist Bill Evans presents "It's Raining Fish & Spiders." It's a one-of-a-kind book about weather filled with graphics, amazing photos and experiments that can be done at home. For ages 8 to 14.
  • 7 p.m., Oct. 22. Jasper Fforde is one of the most inventive writers around. Fforde, the author of the Thursday Next novels, will return to Quail Ridge with his first young adult fantasy, "The Last Dragonslayer." Jennifer Strange is trying to keep an employment agency for magicians afloat - not easy to do when the world's magic is ebbing away. This is a signing line ticket event, which means you must purchase a copy of "The Last Dragonslayer" or "The Woman Who Died a Lot" from Quail Ridge to get a ticket to have your book signed. For ages 9 and way up.
Quail Ridge also will hold its huge used book sale to benefit Books for Kids from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 6. You'll find great deals on used books for all ages here.
