WRAL Voters' Choice Award winners revealed

The "best of" ballot gives the WRAL.com audience an opportunity to vote on their favorite people, businesses and services.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Thousands of votes were cast and now the winners of the WRAL.com Voters’ Choice Awards have been announced.

In lieu of the normal in-person ceremony, this year's event took place virtually Thursday night on WRAL.com.

The “best of” ballot gives the WRAL.com audience an opportunity to vote for their favorite people, businesses and services in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville and other areas of North Carolina.

NASA astronaut and N.C. State grad Christina Koch was named this year's Woman of the Year.

WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner was named best WRAL-TV personality for the second year in a row.

James Beard award-winning chef Ashley Christensen was named best local chef.

Sola Coffee was named the best coffee shop, while Two Roosters won best ice cream. Cousin's Maine Lobster won best food truck. Krispy Kreme won in the best doughnut category. Lynnwood Brewing Concern won for best brewery.
Angus Barn won three awards, including best steak, fine dining and wine selection - all categories it had won previous years.
Other repeat winners included La Farm for best baked goods, Gonza Tacos y Tequila for best tacos, Lilly's Pizza for best pizza, Taverna Agora for best outdoor dining, Watts and Ward for best cocktails, Lonerider Spirits for best distillery, Bad Daddy's Burger Bar for best burgers and Legends Nightclub for best nightclub.

The WRAL.com Voters' Choice Awards were hosted by WRAL anchor and reporter Mikaya Thurmond and meteorologist Kat Campbell.
