NC State grad Christina Koch could be first woman to walk on the moon

North Carolina State University graduate and astronaut Christina Koch could be one of the first women on the moon.

Koch is one of 18 astronauts named by NASA to train for its Artemis moon-landing program. The space agency is aiming for a landing by 2024.

Koch, who holds two bachelor's degrees and a master of science, set the record earlier this year for the longest single spaceflight by a woman – with a total of 328 days in space. Along with fellow NASA astronaut Jessica Meir, she participated in the first all-woman spacewalk.
