Endeavor Charter School in north Raleigh will host a workshop aimed at helping parents avoid homework battles with their kids.

Homework Help: How to Avoid the Battle is 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm., Sept. 20, at the school at 9400 Forum Dr. in Raleigh. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple. The public is invited to attend, but you must register by Sept. 16.

Toqui Kennedy of NC Parent Consultants will present the workshop. Kennedy spent many years as a parent consultant at Project Enlightenment and has offered tips here on Go Ask Mom too (which you can see in the box above).

Here's a description of the workshop: If the thought of homework time causes you as a parent to feel anxious, or if it makes you feel as though you must prepare for battle every night, this workshop will offer some very concrete and specific solutions to the problem. Join us to learn two general key tools parents can use to help overcome the obstacles homework presents to the smooth functioning of families, to address some specific homework problems, and to learn strategies parents can use to lessen the stress of homework time.
