From behind-the-scenes experiences to virtual animal cameos, North Carolina Aquariums have a host of online experiences for kid, families and classes.

With the aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores, you can sign up for behind-the-scenes experiences that cover bird training and enrichment, sea turtle conservation and sharks.

During virtual animal cameos, groups can get a close up view of an animal and learn more about it. Options include sea stars, turtles and alligators from the aquarium at Fort Fisher; sun conures, vultures and owls from Pine Knoll Shores; and possums and river otters from Roanoke Island.

Virtual storytimes are offered for kids ages 2 to 5 and feature a story, a live animal and some other educational activities.

And virtual creature features explore a particular species, such as seahorses or invertebrates, and how the aquarium helps to save them in the wild.

N.C. Aquariums has a full list of all of the virtual programs, including prices, on its website. Members get some discounts.
The state's aquariums reopened to the public in September, but on a limited basis and with new safety protocols to protect against the transmission of COVID-19.
