With ongoing renovation, Morehead Planetarium won't host popular New Year's Eve event
Morehead Planetarium's popular Night Lights event usually draws a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 people.
Posted — UpdatedMorehead announced this week that Night Lights won't go on as usual. The family-friendly event, which usually runs on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, typically attracts a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 people from across the Triangle.
Coming up this month, the theater will host a Teen Science Cafe on Dec. 13, a Star Families program on Dec. 14 and a Starry Nights program on Dec. 18.
“We are very satisfied with the progress of the renovations,” says Lizz Alfano, Morehead's exhibit manager, in the press release. “The building needed structural changes that will completely transform the experience—we can’t wait to unveil the new and improved Morehead next year!”
