WAKE FOREST, N.C. — The Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, 405 S. Brooks St., will host a Special Needs Movie Night at 6:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17. On screen will be the movie "Ferdinand." It's rated PG.

The free event, according to a press release, will offer children with special needs and their families the opportunity to enjoy a film in a safe and accepting environment. To help ensure an enjoyable experience for everyone, the viewing area will include extra lighting. The movie’s volume also will be slightly lower.

The event’s theme is “fun without repercussions,” so audience members will be encouraged to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing, according to the press release.

It's free, but a parent or caretaker must accompany each child. Concessions, including popcorn and soda, will be on sale, but you can bring your own snack too. Kids are welcome to come in their pajamas.

If you have questions about Special Needs Movie Night, contact Specialized Programs Recreation Specialist Kelly Schurtz at 919-556-7093 or kschurtz@wakeforestnc.gov.
