The Diaper Train, Wake County's largest diaper bank, has launched a fundraiser to raise the money necessary to continue to distribute diapers to those in need in the coming year.

Since 2010, The Diaper Train has provided 4.8 million diapers to Wake County families, and the need has only grown during the pandemic. Diapers are not covered by government assistance programs, but are necessary to send children to day care or school so their parents can work.

The Diaper Train, which is part of the Saint Savior's Center, hopes to raise $50,000 — enough to provide 315,000 diapers — between Dec. 1 and Dec. 6. To raise money, the group is selling raffle tickets that start at $10 a piece. Prizes come from businesses along Glenwood South near downtown Raleigh where The Diaper Train is located.

Glenwood South merchants collaborating with The Diaper Train are:

  • Cortez
  • The Hampton Inn
  • The Raleigh Wine Shop
  • Hibernian Pub
  • Plates Neighborhood Kitchen
  • The Raleigh Beer Garden
  • The Rockford
  • Southern Charred
  • Sullivan’s Steakhouse
  • Sushi Blues
  • Vidrio restaurant

Prizes include a staycation at the Hampton Inn & Suites Raleigh Downtown and dinner for two at Sullivan's Steakhouse and $100 or $200 gift cards to the participating businesses.

More information about how you can participate is on Saint Savior Center's website.

"We’re truly grateful for the support of the businesses around us in Glenwood South, and excited that they were so enthusiastic about this effort," said Sharon Hayes, executive director of Saint Savior's Center, in a press release. "This has been such a hard year for everyone, but especially for working families, and The Diaper Train will always be there to help families and their children in need.”
