ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Sometimes you need some mountain air. That's probably why Asheville was named the 2019 WRAL Voters' Choice Award winner for best weekend getaway.
We already highlighted six Asheville waterfalls to check out, but there is also more to do while you maintain social distancing.
You can hike through the mountains and check out some of those waterfalls or do yoga during private tours through Namaste with Nature. Asheville Wellness Tours also offer private tours that include yoga and even forest bathing - that's immersing yourself in the forest, not actual bathing!

If you want to explore on your own, the North Carolina Arboretum, Chimney Rock at Chimney Rock State Park, Grandfather Mountain, Pisgah National Forest, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Buncombe County and City of Asheville municipal parks are open.

In addition to the waterfalls and hiking trails, you can also take a stroll through the River Arts District to see some fun murals.

And if you are looking for a place to stay and connect with nature - Asheville Glamping might be a good option. The company offers luxurious domes and tents that allow you to camp without giving up the comforts of home. You can also book a stay at the Grove Park Inn and enjoy beautiful mountain views.
The Historic Main Inn at Grove Park remains closed, though, so you won't be able to look for the infamous Pink Lady there.
While in Asheville, you might want to save some time to go to 2019 WRAL Voters' Choice Award winner for best tourist attraction, The Biltmore Estate, which recently reopened its doors to guests. The house, gardens, grounds and Antler Hill Village have reopened. Tours of the house are available for small groups and by reservation only. Face coverings are required by guests over 2 years old in public indoor spaces and outside where 6-foot distance cannot be maintained.
Asheville and Biltmore will have chances to defend their titles again this year when the WRAL Voters' Choice Awards returns.

The nomination period opens on Sept. 14.
