Vance County woman says she pretended to be dead during deadly home invasion
Vance County deputies say an intruder was shot and killed after entering a home on Friday.
Posted — UpdatedDeputies found three people had been shot, including two who lived there, at a home on the 100 stretch of Kelly Road as they responded to a home invasion.
Jay Edwards Davis Jr. was found dead inside the home. The two residents were taken to the hospital.
The violent home invasion left Felicia Trowbridge's front door shot out with glass shattered all over her front porch. She's trying to make sense of it all as deputies look for all of the suspects involved.
"My life changed dramatically," Trowbridge said. "I walk in fear."
Trowbridge recalled her memories of the home invasion.
"The only light was the kitchen and the TV," Trowbridge said. "I see three people running, saying, 'Don't move.'
"I could see the bullets coming out the gun. I played dead. I just fell."
Among the three people shot, Trowbridge's son and his girlfriend.
"My son was saying, 'Mom, I'm hit. I don't feel my legs , mom. I'm hit. I'm hit. I don't feel my legs,'" Trowbridge said.
Trowbridge said bullets whizzed by her grandson, who was in a bed. Her grandson was not hit.
"I could still hear by grandbaby crying," Trowbridge said.
Investigators said that Davis, 42, was one of several who broke into the home.
Investigators believe the victims were targeted. However, Trowbridge said she didn't know why she would be targeted.
