I don't know about you, but I've got some bridesmaid dresses in my closet that I will never wear again.

Unfortunately, a floor-length satin gown just doesn't have much of a place in my life these days.

So I'm taking that purple number and a couple of others to Meredith College this week. Meredith's Fashion Association is collecting gently used, recently worn formal wear to give to high school girls who cannot afford a new gown for the prom. The dresses should include evening wear from the last five years only. All donations are tax deductible.

Donations can be brought to 204 Martin at Meredith in Raleigh between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The dresses will be given out next Saturday and Sunday at North Hills Mall as part of Meredith's annual Cinderella Project.
