RALEIGH, N.C. — The exit ramp from westbound Interstate-440 (exit 1-B) to westbound Interstate-40 in Wake County is expected to reopen on Friday afternoon, the North Carolina Department of Transportation said.

The ramp has been closed since March 8 to allow contractors to complete drainage work and paving as part of the project to widen I-40 for 6.2 miles from just east of the Jones Franklin Road bridge to Harrison Avenue. The $49 million widening project is on target to be finished by July.
