Tornado relief comes in many forms

Tornado victims can get free turkeys from the town of Elm City.

The Red Cross is taking donations to aid the victims of the Nov. 15 tornadoes that touched down in Wilson and Johnston counties.

Send checks to: American Red Cross, 801 S. Third Street, Smithfield, NC, 27577. Write "Wilson-Johnston tornado" in the memo field to direct your donation.

The town of Elm City will provide free Thanksgiving turkeys to families suffering the storm's aftereffects. Turkeys can be picked up at town hall at 4 p.m. Friday. Those without transportation can call 252-236-4917 to have a turkey delivered.

The Chick-fil-A in Wilson will offer customers many ways to give to the relief effort  Friday.

The restaurant will donate 10 percent of all sales made Friday, and 10 percent of all catering orders placed from Monday through Saturday to the Joshua Wiggins Memorial Fund in honor of the boy killed in Elm City Saturday. The store will also donate $1 from the purchase of cow merchandise to the fund.

The Chick-fil-A, at 2407 Forest Hills Road, is open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday. Customers can pay to play games during the fundraiser and those funds donated to the memorial fund as well.

Wilson-Nash Properties is also hosting a Open House at Bucklin Subdivision on London Church Road this Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. People will be collecting food, linens, toiletries, furniture and monetary donations.
