From various Valentine's Day events to different Raleigh date ideas, there's something for everyone. The best thing about this special holiday is that you don't have to limit the fun to just one day either.
Valentine's Day events start several days before the holiday and you can celebrate it yourself in your own ways throughout the entire week. Shop the Love Local Valentine's Artisan Market
On Sunday Feb. 11 from noon to 4 p.m., you'll find the Love Local Valentine's Artisan Market at the Hartwell Night Market at 620 W. South St. in Raleigh. Small businesses and local makers will line up for the market, giving you the perfect shopping opportunity. The event itself is free to visit, but be sure to be prepared to purchase some of the unique items you'll find here.
The bar will also be open while you shop, so you can sip on a cold glass of beer or some wine while you shop around. If you're in the mood for cheese and a charcuterie board, then you're in luck. Femme Fromage & Co will be there to supply you with all these delicious needs!
Bring your loved one or bring the entire family for a day out at the market.
Valentine's with goats
You can find a list of these events on their website. Be sure to check them out before choosing a day and time to come. Once you know when you want to visit the goats, don't forget to make a reservation.

North Carolina Museum of Art
After exploring all of the fabulous galleries in the museum, enjoy dessert at the museum's East Cafe and Sip, then head outside to the Ann and Jim Goodnight Museum Park.
Here, you'll find monumental public art installations. It's a sure way to spend Valentine's Day admiring art.
Live music, cold beer, trivia and more
The third Saturday of each month is the Local Maker and Vintage Market. On Valentine's Day this year, the brewing company offers Film Club Presents: True Romance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. The event is free as well.
Splurge at Umstead Hotel and Spa in Cary
This hotel offers many wonderful relaxing activities for couples. The two of you can enjoy a glass of wine while sitting near the lake or partake in a couple's massage before heading to Heron's (the hotel's restaurant) for dinner. What's so unique about this restaurant?
The chefs there use herbs and produce grown on the hotel's farm, found not too many miles don't the road.
Valentine's edition of Carolina Skies Planetarium show
You'll also explore all the legends of love told by various ancient cultures, sky objects, and constellations. There are a variety of showtimes on Feb. 12 and 13.
Do keep in mind that this show is intended for teens and older. It's not recommended for younger children.

Valentine's karaoke party with School of Rock
On Valentine's Day at 8 p.m., School of Rock at Local 506 (506 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill) will host a Valentine's Day Karaoke Party. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the event is free. Local 506 is an all-age rock club.

In downtown Raleigh, you can take the Love Stories and Broken Hearts Walking Tour. On this tour, you'll learn about the city's not as well-known love stories. While you stroll through this guided tour in downtown, you'll make some stops at historical places.
You'll be surprised by how many interesting love stories in Raleigh's history there are to tell and learn about. You can take this tour on Valentine's Day from 2 to 4 p.m. starting from 200 N. Blount St. The tour itself is free, but donations are encouraged.
Take a virtual baking class
A great way to celebrate Valentine's Day while safe and cozy at home is by learning how to bake and cook fabulous desserts and meals with your loved one. The two of you can enjoy a bonding experience creating a variety of dishes.
