Go Ask Mom

They're moms, sisters, business partners

Michelle Zimmerman and Karen Dorman were sisters and stay-at-home moms when they purchased the Twice As Nice sale.

I'm always interested in learning about people - especially moms - who go outside their comfort zones and take risks. That's why I like to feature moms here every Monday.

And Michelle Zimmerman and Karen Dorman, sisters and the mothers of 11 kids total, certainly did that a couple of years ago when they purchased the Twice As Nice consignment sale, which opens to the public March 26 at Crosspointe Church in Cary. Zimmerman is the mom of four. Dorman has seven children.
You'll find all kinds of children's clothes, toys and gear at the sale. Twice As Nice also has a special homeschool corner featuring homeschool curriculum materials, books, software and more. And the sale donates unsold items to the Mabopane Kids, a Raleigh-based group that works with orphaned, abandoned, abused and disadvantaged children in a South African township located on a former landfill.

The sisters had sold and shopped at consignment sales in the past when they decided to get into the business. It's been a success so far - as a business, but also, the sisters tell me, as a kind of community.

Learn more about Michelle and Karen and their sale in this video ... (and if you hear the cooing of a baby, that would be mine) ...

And if you know a mom in the Triangle who should be featured here on Go Ask Mom, contact me.
