RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh Little Theatre's family shows routinely sell out or nearly sell out very quickly. So it's no surprise that it's extending its run of "Seussical" after this weekend.

The show, which was scheduled to close Sunday and feature a sensory-friendly performance on Feb. 29, will now run until Sunday, March 1.

"Seussical (Theatre for Young Audiences version), based on the works of Dr. Seuss, delighted audiences during its opening weekend," according to the community theater "Due to popular demand, we have extended the run and added shows February 27 - March 1. Saturday and Sunday shows in particular sell quickly, so grab your tickets now!"

Here's a description of the show, courtesy of Raleigh Little Theatre's website:

The nefarious Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. The powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged but ultimately emerge triumphantly!

This show is the TYA version, which stands for Theatre for Young Audiences. The 75-minute musical with no intermission is adapted for younger audiences.

Tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for kids 12 and under. The sensory-friendly performance is slated for 1 p.m., Feb. 29, and will include a reduction of loud sounds, flashing lights and other modifications. The show is intended for those on the autism spectrum or with other sensory disorders.
