Taming my inner Griswold
I have a secret. Deep down I want to decorate my house like Clark Griswold from "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." I want my house to glow and be a winter wonderland.
Posted — UpdatedI've lost two snowmen to structural collapse - aka they lose their arms and heads and couldn't manage to stand upright after a couple years of use.
This year, I decided to focus on lights. I invested in this wild light system that lets me set up patterns on my phone. I can even coordinate it with music. I like it, but it isn't enough for me. I want more. I look at my nearly empty front yard and think, "We need more!"
My mom has turned her front yard into a winter wonderland. People stop and take photos of it, people honk and wave to her. I guess that's where I get it from - my parents love decorations!
I failed to mention that my husband isn't a huge fan of decorations. He puts them up because of me and the kids. He doesn't do it because he likes it. I hoped reducing this year's decorations would give him a break from my crazy Griswold side, but I've got the holiday decorating bug in me.
