Beech Mountain Ski Resort opens Friday, Nov. 29 for the 2024-25 ski season.
On Oct. 8, the resort announced its planned opening date for the season even though parts of western North Carolina had extensive damage from Hurricane Helene.

Unlimited season passes for Beech Mountain are on sale for $615.
Weekday season passes are on sale for:
- $415 for adults
- $315 for juniors, seniors and military
- $315 for local students, teachers and faculty from Appalachian State University, Lees-McRae College, Avery County Schools and Watauga County Schools
The weekday season passes are valid Monday to Friday, excluding holidays.
When NC ski resorts are scheduled to open
WRAL News is working to find out the opening dates for Appalachian Ski Mountain, the Cataloochee Ski Area, Hatley Pointe (formerly the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort), Sapphire Valley and the Sugar Mountain Resort.
Appalachian Ski Mountain: Appalachian Ski Mountain plans to open Tuesday, Dec. 3, weather permitting.
"Appalachian Ski Mtn. was very fortunate to have only incurred minimal damage during Hurricane Helene," the resort posted on its website.
- Adult: $620
- Student: $540
- Junior (ages 6 to 12): $490
- Senior (ages 60-plus): $490
- Children (ages 5 and younger with full price membership): $10
Single-day lift tickets range between $36-$79.
Cataloochee Ski Area: The resort is open for the 2024-25 ski season.
- $417 for weekdays/nights (valid Monday through Friday)
- $747 for unlimited
- $608 for limited passes (valid any day except Saturday before 5 p.m.)
Single-day lift tickets cost between $31-$86.
Hatley Pointe (Formerly the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort): The resort plans to open in early December for the 2024-25 ski season.
Hatley Pointe is opening its lodge to the public on Friday, Nov. 29.
The resort offers daily passes starting at $38 and costing as much as $88.
Unlimited season passes are $750 before Oct. 31 and $850 after Oct. 31.
Sapphire Valley: Sapphire Valley plans to open for the season on Dec. 14.
Daily lift passes start at $53 for children and $65 for adults.
Sugar Mountain: Sugar Mountain opened on Nov. 22 for the 2024-25 season.
Western North Carolina saw about 7 inches of natural snow between Nov. 21-23. It marked the first measurable snow of the season.
Season passes cost $908 before Nov. 30 and $1,224 after that date.
Single-day lift passes range from $41 to $94.
Western NC continues repairs from Hurricane Helene
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee said Tuesday that work will begin the week of Oct. 14 for a temporary fix for the damage Helene did to Interstate 40 at the Tennessee-North Carolina line.
Owners of the popular Beech Mountain attraction, Land of Oz, reported last week that the venue had "minor damage from fallen trees."
Leaders in Banner Elk, the town between Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain, advised people last week to leave the area due to Helene's damage.
As of Tuesday, western North Carolina remains heavily impacted by Hurricane Helene, prompting leaders to urge residents to avoid travel to the region.
