Friends, family of Allisha Watts hold second vigil Tuesday night

Friends and family of Allisha Watts, a missing Moore County woman last seen on July 16, held a vigil for her Tuesday night.

The vigil comes as new documents identified Watts' boyfriend, James Dunmore, as a person of interest in her disappearance.

Family members said the purpose of the vigil Tuesday was to continue to get the word out on her disappearance.

"We want to keep the searches on the ground just getting the word out letting them know what’s taking place," One family member said.

Watts, 39, went missing July 16 after taking a trip with Dunmore to Charlotte. Two days later on July 18, her car and an unresponsive man, later identified as Dunmore, were located in a DMV parking lot in Anson County, but Watts was still missing.

On Tuesday, warrants obtained by WRAL News identified Dunmore as a person of interest in the disappearance of Watts. The documents also confirmed Dunmore tried to commit suicide when he was found inside Watt’s car.

Records obtained Monday from Virginia revealed Dunmore had a history of domestic violence, with convictions for abduction, stalking and assault and battery.

Investigators are now looking for evidence of murder in Watts' disappearance.

This is the second vigil for Watts in just as many weeks, as family members previously hosted a vigil on July 25. During that vigil, friends and family of Watts' were asking why there wasn't more information being provided.

Family and friends of Watts said they are grateful that police are encouraging the group to keep spreading the word after more information was released Tuesday.

"Hearing the detective say keep doing the work keep telling people what’s going on, it is very encouraging to us," one family member said.

Next, the group is planning to charter another bus to a vigil in Charlotte, and pass out flyers in the last area Allisha was seen. Vigil organizers set up a donation table to help fund the chartered buses.
