Our next stop on our tour of local gardens in honor of Mother's Day is the Raleigh Rose Garden.

Dedicated in 1951, the garden is open to the public daily at no charge and is on the campus of the Raleigh Little Theatre.

It's not huge, but it includes 60 rose beds with everything from miniatures and antique roses to giant blooms with countless petals.

You'll find all kinds of colors ...

The historic rose garden is at 2703 Everett Ave., Raleigh, near Cameron Village.

And you'll find all kinds of spaces. There's a small decorative pool; a short arbor that kids love running through; and big open spaces with some shade that are perfect for picnics.

Raleigh Little Theatre plans to host more activities in the rose garden in the coming months.

Art in the Garden is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 12, in the garden. It will feature a jury-selected lineup of visual artists, food trucks and live entertainment.
And this summer, the community theater will host a summer movie series that will feature mostly family-friendly flicks starting with "Frozen" on July 5.

The Raleigh Rose Garden is at 2703 Everett Ave., Raleigh.
