The forthcoming minor league baseball team known as the Wilson Warbirds released renderings of their new downtown baseball stadium.

After the 2025 season, the Carolina Mudcats will rebrand as the Wilson Warbirds.

The team will move from Five County Stadium at 1501 North Carolina Highway 39 in Zebulon to Wilson Stadium at 419 Goldsboro St. South.

The Warbirds will be Single-A affiliate of the Major League Baseball Milwaukee Brewers.

The new Wilson stadium is expected to open by April 2026 in time for Opening Day of the baseball season. The renderings show a right field picnic area, a club lounge, a left field entrance, a left field patio and luxury suites.

Last year, Wilson leaders voted unanimously to approve a $69 million plan to build a new ballpark for the team near Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park in downtown Wilson.

Wake County and the town of Zebulon are working together to seek proposals from qualified entities to lease and operate Five County Stadium and the surrounding property.
