Southern Pines man charged in brother's murder

An 18-year-old was charged with first-degree murder after his brother was found shot to death in their Southern Pines home last week.

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. — An 18-year-old was charged with first-degree murder after his brother was found shot to death in their Southern Pines home last week.

The Southern Pines Police Department said officers responded to 918 Talmadge Way on Dec. 2 and found 26-year-old Marquese Donte Steadwell dead from gunshot wounds.

Police said the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident between Steadwell and his brother, Gregory Elijuan Gay Jr.

Gay was held in the Moore County jail without bond. A hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19.
