HOPE MILLS, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier has been arrested in a fatal shooting a week ago outside a Hope Mills club, police said Monday.

Sgt. William Donelle Dillard, 26, of the 4200 block of Falmont Place in Fayetteville, has been charged with first-degree murder and was being held in the Cumberland County jail.

Kitric Shavoy Reeves Jr., 28, of Fayetteville, was found shot in the parking lot at 3041 N. Main St. in the early hours of June 23 and died at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Investigators said Dillard and Reeves got into an altercation at another club the previous week.

Although he didn't rap himself, Reeves was "the backbone" of the group Deadplay Entertainment, or DPE, which performed up and down the East Coast, his family said.

Dillard is assigned to the 407th Brigade Support Battalion at Fort Bragg, police said.
