It's just about time for many of the local movie theaters to open their free or really cheap family movie film festivals. So I've put it into a handy database for you complete with deals, schedules and other details.

The series typically run from mid-June to mid-August or so and feature G, but mostly PG films. Some theaters show one; others two. And they're shown in the morning.

Some tips before you go:

  • I've included the weekly schedule, but schedules and titles can always change. So if you have your heart set on seeing a moving, be sure to call ahead to make sure nothing has changed.
  • Get there early. As you can imagine, these movies fill up. And they really fill up if it's a popular movie and it's a rainy day. Many daycares and summer camps take their charges to these movies. So get there at least 30 minutes early and be ready for a packed house.
  • Tickets are first come, first served. Another reason to get their early.
I've also included outdoor movie series and theaters where the tickets are cheap all the time. And I know you'll feel free to email me if I've missed something and I'll add it to the list. Or just include it in the comments.
