French Toast Casserole

1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
8 large eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 cup milk
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ cup sugar
Dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Maple syrup

Casserole Topping:

1 stick butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup

½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350℉.

2. Cut bread into cubes or tear into small pieces. Place in a greased pan. In a medium bowl whisk together eggs, milk, half and half, sugar, salt, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread in the pan. Cover and refrigerate, if possible, for 2 hours or overnight. If you need to go ahead and bake it, that is fine also!

3. For Topping: Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and blend well. Just before baking, spread topping on the top of the casserole.

4. Bake in preheated oven about 30 minutes until puffy and light golden brown.
