RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh officers tried to pull over two cars racing down Capital Boulevard on Friday night before one of them collided head-on with a police cruiser.

One of the drivers got away, according to the police.

The other tried to run away from police after crashing around 10:30 p.m. When trying to get away from officers, police said the driver hit a car and then hit a police cruiser head-on at 4020 Capital Blvd.

After hitting those vehicles, police said the driver kept going northbound on Capital Boulevard, hitting another vehicle near the intersection of Capital Boulevard and New Hope Road. The driver's car was disabled after hitting the third vehicle.

The driver then tried to run away before being arrested by officers, police said. Charges are pending for the suspect.

The officer hurt their ankle after the chase, police said.

On Wednesday night, a Raleigh police officer was involved in a head-on crash on Poole Road at the intersection of Donald Ross Drive.
